Current Research Interests

Hervé Delbarre was graduated as a doctor in Physics from the University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille in 1993. His thesis  at the Hertzian Spectroscopy Laboratory in collaboration with the Atomic Energy Commission, focuses on a theoretical approach to spectral instabilities in a far-infrared free electron laser. He became an associate professor at the « Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale »  in 1994 and joined the laboratory for Physico-Chemistry of the Atmosphere. He obtained the Accreditation to Direct Research in 2006 and became a Professor in 2008 in the same university.

His research work was primarily focused on the applications of ultrashort pulse lasers, in the field of optical detection of air pollutants (non-linear crystals, super continuum). He then developed a research axis on lidar remote sensing and atmospheric dynamics. His work mainly focuses now on the analysis of atmospheric mechanisms at micro- and meso-scales (breezes, coherent turbulent structures, low-level jets, etc.) and their role in the fields of air pollution and energy.

From 2010 to 2020, he directed the Laboratory of Physico-Chemistry of the Atmosphere for 2 mandates and was a member of the LABEX CaPPA steering committee (2008-2019). From 2014 to 2020, he carried out the CPER-PO FEDER IRenE regional project “Innovation and research in the Environment” on behalf of 15 laboratories in the Hauts-de-France region (2014-20). In 2020, he was appointed “valorization” project manager at the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale. In 2021, he became co-leader of the CPER ECRIN regional project “Environment, Climate, Research and Innovation” on behalf of the 25 laboratories in the Hauts-de-France region
