Current Research Interests

Luyao Zou obtained his PhD from Emory University (Atlanta, USA) in May 2017. He has worked in PhLAM UMR 8523 at Université de Lille and LISA UMR 7583 at Université Paris-Est Créteil as post-doc researcher. He was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoc fellow between 2020 and 2022. Since December 2022, he joined LPCA as a Chaire Professeur Junoir.

His current research focuses on the high-resolution molecular spectroscopy in the millimeter-wave and THz range, and its application in gas-phase detection of molecules in the atmosphere and in the interstellar medium. He has experience in developing laboratory instruments, software, and in analyzing complicated rotational spectra including large amplitude motions. He has worked with both room-temperature absorption cells and supersonic expansion, which is a technique to create rotationally cooled molecules including unstable ones like radicals and van-de-Waals complexes.
